A Four Person Private Tour
August 18th – 23rd & 25th – 30th 2022

If you have never been or have been many times you should join me in one of my favorite places to photograph in America. The Palouse. This incredible region of rolling hills and farmland is located in Southeast Washington State. I have been shooting this area for years and usually make annual visits to the Palouse both in the early summer and for the harvest in August. There are many places to photograph in this area. I’d love to take you to some of my favorite, fabulous spots.

In the past we have held workshops in the Palouse with 12 or more people. I am now offering something special. Come shoot with me and four other photographers (5 of us total) in the Palouse during the harvest season. We’ll be photographing from dawn to sunset at some of amazing locations. As a small group, we will have plenty of time to talk about photography and making images. I’ll help you along the way find the best ways to shoot this landscape as well as coach you on seeing differently. We’ll also spend time doing image processing and prepping images for printing.

Seeing Differently – Window On The Side Of A Barn

I’ll pick you up at the Spokane airport at noon on the 18th or 25th of August. We will head right into the region and start our photography adventure. We’ll be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Pullman, WA. Don’t let the Holiday Inn name fool you, as this is not your everyday Holiday Inn. The rooms are large, quiet and comfortable.

We’ll work our way south and check you into the hotel by late afternoon. We’ll then head out to dinner and a possible sunset. You’ll be amazed at the interesting patterns made by the various fall harvest colors which add to the richness of the images.

Kevin Raber

Kevin Raber is a digital pioneer. Embracing digital in 1996 Kevin hasn’t looked back. In the seventies and eighties, Kevin ran a very successful commercial studio in the Philadelphia area. In the mid eighties, he bought one of the first Macintosh computers and started a software company writing software for photographers. He sold both the studio and software company in 1990 and worked with Burrell Professional Labs as Sales and Business Development Manager. In the mid 90’s he was part of the team that developed initially a hybrid digital workflow for color labs and eventually a fully digital workflow. In 1999 he joined Phase One as a Vice President and worked on numerous projects with Phase One until 2013. From 2013 – 2018 Kevin served as the CEO and Publisher of Luminous-Landscape.

Kevin’s passion for photography can only be experienced by photographing with him. His collection of images from all corners of the globe is extensive. He was the originator of the well known PODAS workshops. He was CEO & Publisher of the Luminous-Landscape.com website from 2013-2018. You can see more of Kevin’s work at kevinraber.com.

Accomodations & Pricing

The fee for this workshop is $3950.00 USD. Meals and hotel are your responsibility. I will buy all of us lunch on the first day as well as a great dinner on the last night. We’ll be out early each morning. Some of those mornings will be for sunrise and return to the hotel or town for breakfast before heading out again. During the day, we will shoot abandoned houses, trucks and the gorgeous rolling hills. We may take a break in the afternoon to work on our images collectively.

This will be an amazing opportunity to work elbow to elbow and do critiques of the images we shoot, as well as discover the methods to get the most from your files. We’ll also have a lot of fun!

Our workshop begins on Thursday the 18th or 25th of August. We will meet at noon at the Ramada Hotel for lunch, then head out for an afternoon of photography before checking into the hotel. We head back to the airport early in the morning on the 23rd or the 20th to get our flights from noon on.

A deposit of $1500.00 is required to hold your spot. The balance is payable by July 15th. There may be an option to do some aerial photography at extra cost. I’ll provide more information on this as we get closer to the workshop date. The airport that you fly into for this workshop is Spokane, WA. Please arrive and be ready to roll out by 12 noon on the first day of the workshop.
