She received her Bachelor’s degree in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology and her Master’s degree in Design at the School of Visual Arts.
Katrin is the co-author of Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, Photoshop Masking & Compositing, The Creative Digital Darkroom, and Real World Digital Photography – all of which have been translated into numerous languages for worldwide distribution. In 2005, Katrin was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame and in 2015 she was named a Sony Artisan of Imagery. Her images have been featured in numerous books, magazines, group and solo exhibitions. Katrin is the founder and chair of the Masters in Digital Photography department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Katrin speaks German and English and has taught and presented in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and throughout North America.
She sees things differently and will bring a fresh perspective to those looking to see the Antarctica landscape from a unique angle. She was recently interviewed by Kevin Raber in A Walk in the Park with Katrin Eismann. You can more of her work Here.
Ken Duncan is well-known in Australia as the pioneer of Limited Edition Photographic Art. After a visit to New York in the early 1980s, Ken returned home with a dream to see photography more widely accepted as an art form in his home country. The increasing number of Australian photographers now emulating his panoramic style and finding a market for their work is a testimony to Ken’s success.
You won’t find a better instructor and more passionate photographer than Ken. His work is truly something to behold. He has published countless photography books and has taught at hundreds of workshops around the world, many in collaboration with Kevin.
Ken is truly passionate about his craft. Always striving for excellence, he travels extensively throughout the world in search of stunning panoramic landscapes – or panographs – for which he is best known.
Recognized internationally as a gifted and prolific landscape photographer, Ken still chooses to describe himself as “an average photographer, with a great God – merely an interpreter of God’s creation.” Art, he says, is in seeing, capturing and presenting these images to others. And this Ken does with his own unique style and exceptional ability to capture the very spirit of a place at a given moment in time.
Ken will stand with you and show you things that you may not see yourself. He is one of the most entertaining people to photograph alongside, not to mention learn from.

Today, Kevin travels the world, organizing workshops from one pole to the other and at many places in between.

A Photography Discovery Expedition
This is a trip tailored to the photographer. Since 2005 Luminous-Landscape has been leading photo trips to Antarctica. There is something about Antarctica that calls out to every photographer. It’s an incredibly beautiful location defying description. The immensity of this continent comes at you fast and you will be shooting images from the beginning to the end. This year’s trip will be a special offering for photographers with instruction and photo guidance by three well know and respected photographers. Kevin Raber, Ken Duncan, and Katrin Eismann will work with you to make sure the images you bring home are portfolio worthy.
Kevin Raber who has traveled to Antarctica since 2005 will work closely with the Captian and Expedition leader to make sure that we are at the best locations at the best light and time of day. You’ll enjoy a fly Over the Drake experience. Within a short time of landing in Antarctica, the ship will set sail for the first of many exciting locations. we will be doing at least two shore excursions a day, mixed with ships cruises as well as zodiac cruises of some of the most picturesque locations. You’ll witness wildlife like you have never seen it before. We’ll be photographing gigantic icebergs and witnessing sunsets like you couldn’t imagine.
Antarctica is a remote, magical place that will greet you with its awe-inspiring beauty. See peaceful bays dotted with colossal icebergs; cruise along deep fjords and see massive glaciers; be amazed by sharp snowy peaks that jut out of the sea.
Adventure awaits in Antarctica. Cruise at sea level with our Zodiac boats and feel the spray of seawater on your cheeks. Follow in the footsteps of early explorers as you hike on Antarctic soil.
Unlike many comparable expeditions, this trip is devoted entirely to the pursuit of photography. From the moment you arrive at your hotel in Punta Arenas until your final departure, everything will be provided for you. Our goal is to be at the right place, at the right time, offering you an incredible photography experience. We will also have a team of world-class guides and expedition leaders. Ken, Katrin, and Kevin will be available at any time to help you maximize your photographic opportunities. Onshore, on the boat or in the zodiac we’ll help you see and capture the beauty that will be all around us. Back on the ship, we will help you with post-processing, editing, and getting the most from the images you capture.
We’ll enjoy our meals together talking about our adventures of the day as well as photographic topics. Learning never stops and neither does the opportunities to shoot great photos and make new friends.
Set foot on the seventh continent and add a new destination to your travel list. You will bring home indelible memories, while tales of your adventurous journey will arouse the curiosity and admiration of your friends and family. In the austral summer, large numbers of penguins, whales, seals, and seabirds congregate along the Antarctic Peninsula to feed and reproduce. Unconcerned by your presence, these animals will provide endless inspiration for your photographs.
